Don’t miss Steven Berkoff’s one-man show, Shakespeare’s Villains, which we are organising as part of our Shakespeare Lives programme of events in collaboration with the British Embassy and the Athens Concert Hall.
A Masterclass in Evil
The British actor, theatrical writer and director Steven Berkoff explores and analyses Shakespeare’s most villainous characters – Iago, the Macbeths, Shylock, Richard III – characters who are inherently evil, others whose situation leads them to evil deeds, others at the mercy of an evil society. Incisive insights into the psyche give way to Shakespeare’s own words which explode into the auditorium from one of the UK’s most formidable and maverick talents.
Renowned throughout the world, Berkoff is known to many for the villains he has played in mainstream films (Octopussy, Beverly Hills Cop, Rambo and The Krays). He brings this experience to Shakespeare’s characters in a way that challenges and exhilarates. Shakespeare’s Villains has already enjoyed a successful West End run as well as having toured extensively overseas.
