Student testimonials

Arvanitis Iason

The main reason for my choice to study in the UK was, first of all, my desire to improve my English language skills, which I considered necessary as an English teacher, and secondly, my belief that the subject of my postgraduate studies, the critique of modern English-language literature, can only be studied in depth in a country where this language is spoken as a mother tongue. A secondary but very important reason was my need to come into direct contact with British culture. I pursued my master’s degree in Modern and Contemporary Writing at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. The choice of university was not accidental as I knew that it has one of the top literature departments in the UK. This choice paid off. The level of both teaching and staff was top notch and the infrastructure was of the highest standards. My studies have transformed me as a person as I have acquired a wealth of knowledge in the subject that fascinates me, literature. In addition, I perfected my English language skills. This experience was valuable to me. As an English teacher, I have acquired a wealth of skills that allow me to adapt my teaching to the needs and learning style of students, which makes the process of learning a foreign language more enjoyable and effective. As a person who has a passion for literature, I have acquired the knowledge necessary to study the subject further.
