In collaboration with the Centre for Translation Studies (CenTraS) at University College London and the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting at the Ionian University, we are pleased to host this specialised short course in Media Localisation and Accessibility, featuring leading experts from the two educational institutions.

Over the course of the workshop, specialists from CenTraS and the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting at the Ionian University will give lectures and lead hands-on workshops on topics such as dubbing, subtitling and media localisation, all explored through the lens of media accessibility and inclusivity.

The programme also includes a field trip to immerse participants in accessibility matters at museums, a social activity and a career-oriented talk with lecturers from both educational institutions.

Participation fee is 195 euros and covers:

  • the full programme of lectures and workshops
  • software-related licences for the duration of the course
  • a visit to the Museum of Cycladic Art
  • a social activity
  • coffee/tea breaks and light lunch on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September.

Participation will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis.

Two free places will be offered to unemployed people on a first come, first served basis: You will need to confirm unemployment status by sending a copy of your Unemployment Card or a certificate from the Public Employment Service (DYPA) to customerservices@britishcouncil.gr. Participants will need to have their own laptops and headphones for all sessions as there will be hands-on practice.
