Cambridge English results

Results Release

For paper-based exams, results are usually available approximately four to six weeks after the written examinations.

For digital exams, most results are released 5-10 working days after the exam date. Any remaining results will be released during the following week. The final release date will be three weeks after the exam.

Statement of Results

All candidates receive a Statement of Results, which provides:

  • Your score on the Cambridge English Scale for each of the four skills.
  • Your overall score and grade for the exam.
  • Your CEFR level for the overall exam.

Individual Candidates

Candidates who wish to be notified as soon as results are available may register on the Cambridge Results website using their ID and the number printed on their timetable.

  • Keep your timetable until you receive your results.
  • You will also receive an SMS and e-mail notification when the results release period begins.

Preparation Centres

All preparation centres that register candidates for Cambridge English Qualifications can access student results and Statements of Results via the Cambridge English Preparation Centre website

  • Upon registration, centres will receive login details by email.
  • Candidates registered through a centre can sign up to Results Service for Candidates to see their results.

Certificates

Certificates are sent by Cambridge English to the British Council approximately seven to ten weeks after paper-based exams, and three to four weeks after digital exams.

Certificate Delivery

If you registered through an English language preparation centre, your certificate will be sent to your school.

If you registered as an individual candidate, your certificate will be sent to your postal address.

All children who take a Cambridge English Young Learners exam receive a certificate to recognise their achievement and help build their confidence.

The certificate shows the number of Cambridge shields achieved for each part of the test, up to a maximum of five shields per part. One shield shows that a child can improve further in that skill, while five shields show that they perform very well.

Children also receive a Statement of Results, which gives more detailed feedback on their performance. It includes the number of shields received for each part of the test, information on their strengths, areas for improvement and ideas on how they can continue developing their English.

Schools, parents and learners can access results through Cambridge English Online Results Services when they are available. Please contact your preparation centre or authorised exam centre for access details.

For digital Young Learners exams, the customised avatar created during the exam will also appear on the certificate and Statement of Results.

The Cambridge English Scale is used to report results for Cambridge English qualifications and tests. It gives a more detailed picture of a candidate’s English level and provides scores in a consistent format across different exams.

Candidates receive scores for each skill, Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking, plus Use of English where this is part of the exam. They also receive an overall score on the Cambridge English Scale.

Benefits

Clearer results: The scale helps candidates understand their performance in more detail, both overall and individual skills.

Consistent reporting: Results are reported on the same scale across Cambridge English exams, making them easier to understand and compare.

Easier comparison and progress tracking: Because the scale is aligned with the CEFR, IELTS and Cambridge English exams, it helps candidates, teachers and recognising organisations see how results compare and how a candidate is progressing from one level to the next.
